Child birth photography at Warwick Hospital

I thought it was time to look back at photos I’ve taken over the years that stand out to me. These 2 photos are from a set of images I took during the birth of our newborn child Nikita over 7 years ago!

Deciding to capture the birth of my own child was a no-brainer. As someone who’s always behind the lens, documenting other people’s most special days like weddings why wouldn’t I do the same for the most life changing moment of my own? ⁣ ⁣ From day one, this pregnancy has been an emotional rollercoaster for my wife and me. Photographing the final chapter of this journey felt like the perfect way to hold onto those moments forever 🖤.

The first shot is one I took and it’s a moment I’ll never forget. Both Katie and Nikita, exhausted but so content, finally getting some rest.

I can’t take credit for the second shot, it was actually taken by my wife Katie, just moments after giving birth! She captured the moment of me cutting the cord through her legs such a raw and powerful image. ⁣

I find documentary photos like this work so well in black and white where stripping the colour out means there are no distracting elements.
