The last time I shot a wedding at the wonderful Red House Barn in Bromsgrove a few years ago it was sunny all day. For Nikki and Paul’s wedding though the weather was certainly against us in the morning with grey clouds and drizzling rain. But anyone who knows me well enough knows I love a challenge and it definitely wasn’t going to dampen our spirits. I turned up nice and early to photograph Nikki and her bridesmaids as they were having their hair and makeup done before Paul arrived and I grabbed some quick photos of him and his best men before the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony at the Red House Barn
The ceremony at the Red House Barn is conducted in a large enough room to fit all the wedding guests without being too cramped but still making it a lovely intimate ceremony. It has 2 large windows in the middle of the room that floods the room with gorgeous light and makes a wedding photographers job a lot easier meaning they don’t need to use flash during the ceremony and can be more discreet.
After the ceremony and due to the weather we did the groups shots indoors and the venue were very accommodating in clearing the ceremony room for this to happen.
After the father of the bride and the groom had given their heart felt wedding speeches it was onto the best men. You can always rely on best men to really get some amazing reaction and embarrassment photos during the speeches and these guys didn’t disappoint.
Luckily for us the weather had cleared up and we made the most of it by getting some beautiful location photos around the venue while the guests were having a go at laser clay shooting at the back of the venue.
After the cake cutting and first dance it was time for the DJ to really get people on the dance floor, it’s this point where you can really get some fun photos and people are far more willing (drunk) to care about a photographer taking their picture.
I’d like to thank Nikki and Paul for choosing me to photograph their wedding day and Red House Barn for making the day run smoothly as always.
If you’re getting married at the Red House Barn or anywhere else in the UK then don’t hesitate to get in touch so I can show you what I can offer.
I’ve added a few of my favourite photos from the day, feel free to comment and share on social media.
