I was lucky enough to be chosen by one of my best friends to photograph their wedding at Rowton Castle in Shropshire. This is one venue I’ve never photographed at before, so I was over the moon when I researched it on the web to find it’s a stunning 17th century castle near Shrewsbury and voted the 6th best castle in the world!
As I arrived at the venue I can see why it’s voted one of the best in the world. The Castle is surrounded by stunning gardens, endless features and views to take your breath away. I can pretty much say it’s one of the best venues I’ve ever shot at.
I was photographing the whole wedding which is always nice as I’m not having to rush from one location to the next and packing my gear away each time. The couple had decided to keep the wedding guest list to a minimum so I knew it would be a nice relaxed wedding.
The Stunning Rowton Castle
The morning was taken up with me photographing the bride and groom preparation photos in my usual manner, before getting myself ready for the small intimate civil ceremony outdoors.
The weather was a photographers dream with lovely soft light as the bridal party came down the path through the beautiful gardens to the ceremony. You could definitely see how proud Becky’s dad was as he walked her down the aisle towards Stefan with their chosen music playing in the background.
After the ceremony I had plenty of time with the Stefan and Becky to get some fantastic photos throughout the grounds inside and out before the wedding breakfast.
After the wedding breakfast it was straight into the most emotional speeches I’ve ever heard and knowing the couple personally made it that much harder to hold back the tears while shooting.
As the light started to fade I bought out some of my lighting gear to get some night time shots before the cake cutting and first dance commenced. I find it’s always nice to get some night time shots if possible to add balance to the couples wedding album.
I throughly enjoyed the whole wedding and wish Becky and Stefan all the very best in their future together.
I’ve added a small selection of photos from their wedding below, I hope you enjoy.
“Can’t thank you enough David for photographing our magical day. From start to finish you were amazing. Having you photograph our wedding day was one the best decisions we made. We’ve just received our usb stick and the photos are breath taking. Looking through them has made us relive the magical day, every photo tells the story of the day. You don’t appreciate how much hard work goes into the photos until you see them. We are both looking forward to seeing them in the photo album.”
Thank you
Stefan & Becky xx
