The wedding of Charlotte and Mike at the Red House Barn was one of the weddings this year I was most looking forward to. I’ve known Mike for years and used to race mountain bikes with him, so we were over the moon when he chose us to photograph his big day.
We met up with Mike in the morning at his parents house, where him and his groomsmen were having breakfast and getting ready. Mike was very relaxed when doing the preparation photos seeing that he was getting married in a few hours. We used window light to create the soft direction light you see in his photos below as we find this to be much more natural than flash photography.
The weather was definitely on our side that day as the sun was shining all morning as we drove to Charlotte’s parents house in Solihull. When we arrived Charlotte was just finishing her hair and makeup and we photographed her detail shots at this time. Using our new, small and light weight Fuji cameras we were able to really get in close and photograph in a reportage style without being obtrusive. Charlotte looked stunning in her wedding dress, and we used the beautiful flattering light coming through her patio doors to really enhance her dresses details. The pastel colours of the bridesmaids dresses looked great together and there was obviously a lot of thought gone into the colour choices.
As we drove to Henley to photograph the ceremony at St Nicholas Beaudesert church I hoped the sun would stay around for the rest of the day and it didn’t disappoint. The ceremony was fantastic and the vicar let me go where ever I pleased, which is unusual but very welcomed by myself as I could get lots of photos and get more creative with my angles.
After the group photo outside the church and confetti shot we went back into the church to do some of our signature photos, using the stain glass windows to our advantage.
Wedding reception at the Red House Barn
We then made our way to the Red House Barn in Stoke Prior to carry on the celebrations. It’s a great venue with beautiful gardens and loads of photo opportunities to be had. The bride and groom treated us to a full wedding breakfast meal which tasted amazing and we were both very thankful of this.
We photographed the speeches and cake cutting before the first dance and bouquet toss. The first dance had been choreographed by Charlotte who is a ball room dance teacher and Mike had obviously put in some hard work as they both shone on the dance floor.
We loved their wedding and we wish Charlotte and Mike all the happiness in the future together.
“Amazing photographer, extremely professional yet good fun. I’m not one for standing around posing but David made it quick and easy to get awesome shots. Our venue had a large screen so David put a slideshow on for us during the evening while our guests were partying, everyone commented how good the photos were. The album is simply amazing, we went for the acrylic cover and it looks incredible, we even got it within 4 weeks of arranging and organising the album with David which again was super easy.
If you are considering David for your wedding get him booked you will not be disappointed
He is doing my brothers wedding next year.”
Thanks Charlotte and Mike.
